What would you do if you found out that the parent in charge of driving your kid for a school field trip 1) gave the children in her car extra spending money to use at a gift shop during the field trip and 2) bought the children ice creams during the field trip despite the fact that the children had their OWN money to use and have no need for ice cream in the middle of the day. The rest of the class, to my knowledge, were not eating ice cream or begging money from their drivers.
It's curious to me. She has told me before she thinks her kids are "good kids" and has a hard time saying no to them, but I didn't think she'd go that far with someone else's kids.

As long as the kids are safe and not being disrespectful, I say mole hill. You will raise your kids great and just the way you want to - one field trip won't hurt. It's more of an issue with the field trip mom knowing her own boundaries and the teacher enforcing any guidelines. Now that my year is over, I can say that I wish I let me kids loosen up a little more and have some silly, unnecessary fun.
Since you have the same group of kids together, potentially next year, if she does it again, then I think I'd make an issue of it. But you might just mention to the teacher next year, before any field trips, your concerns, without naming names, so the issue of boundaries can be addressed in sort of a blanket fashion without anyone being singled out.
